Plumbing. I can have an outhouse outside and I could have a well pump outside close to the house. With electricity I can heat hot water, have lights, radio, TV, computer, clocks, modern stoves and a swimming pool.
For not having plumbing I could go back to wash basins and bath tubs that have to be filled and emptied which could be done with a hose going out. You need to charge your cell phone and wash your clothes with the washer you would fill by hand.
Electricity.. though I've been toiletless and that's entirely do-able.. I'm also been waterless and that is horrrrible. Takes forever to do the simplest things like dishes, shower, etc. Electricity is less important to me.. I actually like candle light.
Plumbing. I live in FL, so using a composting toilet and a hand pump wouldn't be so bad. I couldn't live without my computer and internet, though.
Electricity. Of course, that would mean no hot water heater, which would definitely eliminate one of the joys of indoor plumbing, but I would still much prefer kerosene lamps and candles to an outhouse. Cooking can be done with a wood stove, though it definitely takes its own skill set.
Homes can be heated with fireplaces and wood stoves as well, though I think if the house was designed with no electricity in mind, it actually wouldn't be so bad. In an average house, where there's maybe only one fireplace, or none at all, it would be trickier, but still doable. One could probably even do steam heat, provided it was carefully designed and maintained.
Electricity for sure. I could read, clean, cook, and probably just about anything else via candle light. However not having indoor plumbing would just really stink, no pun intended LOL.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
