If you wake up at 3:00 am do you think it is ok to walk your dogs at that time of night?

I think that unless you have an easily irritated or alerted dog, you should be fine to walk your pooch in the early morning hours if he has to go and if this is your preferred choice of allowing him to use the bathroom. I must say that I find it overly considerate of you to worry about neighbors and other individuals who are likely asleep during those times. To be honest, if I awoke at 3 a.m.

, walking my dog at this early hour would be the last thought crossing my mind. But that is because I would not want to go outside to walk through my neighborhood at 3 a.m. Not that I live in a bad neighborhood, but I the thought itself is not very appealing since you never know what or who you may encounter at this time.

Think about it, how many people are truly out and about this early? If there are others outside, could they share your passion of walking their dogs while it is still dark out, or do they have other reasons for prancing around the neighborhood in the dark? Scary thought.

Also, depending on the area you live in, you could encounter certain wild animals that may be out active at night. While running across a raccoon digging in a trash can or a bunny nibbling on lettuce in the neighbors home-made garden is likely the scenario you would encounter, some neighborhoods are close to wooded areas that allow anything from wild boars, coyotes, smaller wolves, or even bears to access residential housing for food sources. Therefore, before embarking on a night time adventure with your doggie, be clear about what potential dangers you could encounter in the dark in your area.

If your dog is impatient and truly has to be let out, consider just taking him in the backyard or in front of the house. If you truly enjoy walking when it’s quiet outside and nobody else is out and about, then definitely go for it and have fun. Don’t worry too much about the neighbors.

While there may be a situation that could trigger your dog to bark, you can always calm him with your voice or by diverting his attention. You will also not be standing still and let him remain in one place to bark. Rather you would be walking at a comfortable stride, which would simply remove the dog from the antagonizing source.

Also, if you and your dog are not located directly outside a neighbor’s window, chances are that if your dog barks nearby families won’t even hear him or will sleep right through any barking fit. Finally, figure out why you find it necessary to walk your dog this early in the day. Do you lack the time to take him on walks during the day (perhaps due to a busy work or family schedule)?

If you simply need a way to tire yourself out again you may also want to explore a variety of other options that could help you get back to sleep. If I found it especially hard to fall back asleep after my waking episode, I think I would rather try reading or watching TV. Of course, if you feel you need some exercise yourself at this time of the day, you could also do some stretching and a light workout in your living room.

Whatever you choose to do, remember to have fun and stay safe. Don’t beat yourself up over lost sleep or over worries about neighbors’ potentially awakening.

You sound like a good neighbor! Too bad all dog owners aren't as considerate. Sound like the barking won't be problem if there are no other dogs outside!

Some poor doggies are left outside all night, though. Depending on how close your neighbors are, and how loud and long your dogs are likely to bark, I doubt it would really disturb anybody too much. You could try to train them to stop barking on command while you're walking, take a few small treats in your pocket and if they do bark, give them a treat to distract them and tell them "quiet" or "hush" or whatever, just always use the same word.

Otherwise the soft muzzle is a good option, but personally I hate to see dogs muzzled unless there's no other choice.

You have nothing to be worried about. You dogs will enjoy a walk at any time of the night!

I do wake up about then from time to time, and (not having a dog) I use to get up and turn on the TV and start the day at 5AM. . Nowdays I find that if I go straight back to bed I can still get a good nights sleep and not disturb my sleep pattern.

2) The Neighbourhood... It really depends on where you live. Certainly I know places that I really wouldn't like to go after dark, even If I had a pack of Pitt Bulls for protection.3) Your Dog.It sounds like your best friend is going to be well behaved, but does he (or she) fancy a walk at that time? Or would it prefer to go back to sleep?

If there isn't a problem from either of these then enjoy your walk... and use that time. You can always nap later if required.

Sure you can. You know if you're worried about your dog barking when you walk at that time of the night, why not buy a soft muzzle, one that helps keep the noise down :) Then you know you can walk without disturbing anyone. You can see what you can buy here: pets-warehouse.com/Vpasp/shopdisplayprod... Something like this - a great picture from jodimarr @Flickr flickr.com/photos/99505705@N00/2599130632.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
