If you were caught cheating, would you give your boy/girlfriend a check to cash if they caught you cheating again... Here's the whole story I heard on Z100: There was a (rich) man who did drugs & cheated on his girlfriend. She caught him. He then wrote her out a check for $100,000 saying that, if he cheated on her again, she could cash the check and spend the cash.

Well, time went by and he DID cheat on her. She went to cash the check and get the cash. NOW, he is sueing her because she spent the money.

She does have documentation of his promise. If you were in the same situation (without the lawsuit part) would you spend it or not? Why?

Idiocy. If I caught my significant other cheating on me, I'd leave them! If they wanted to give me a parting guilt-gift of $100,000, fine, but I wouldn't continue to play "Cheater's Monopoly" with a "$100,000 Please Forget my Indiscretion" Card for every time I was cheated upon--particularly if I finally wound-up with a "You've got AIDS" Card!

As far as your particular scenario goes, the man has absolutely no legal grounds upon which to recover the money his girlfriend spent. He gave to her to spend, and certainly can't sue her for doing the very thing he gave it to her for! .

UH.... this story is sick! The girlfriend was an IDIOT for taking the check in the first place. Here the guy cheats on her, and all he can offer is MONEY?

Obviously money IS more important than a healthy relationship, so she takes it, I'm SURE, knowing he will cheat again - and you better believe she was watching his every move hoping he would...he must of been REALLY wacked out on the drugs to not know she would be on him like flies on garbage. He, having no respect for women or relationships, cheats AND gets CAUGHT - AGAIN! You BET girlfriend #1 RACED to the bank!

The check was written to her, she had every right to cash it. As for ME, I would NEVER let myself be in a situation like this - I KNOW lots of money in the hands of drug users means "CANNOT be trusted". No way, not ever.

I would not let my self esteem drop low enough to live with a wealthy drug user. Let's pretend my cheater boyfriend offered me MONEY as insurance that he will not cheat again - - NOPE. That would not work for me either.

He would have to get counseling and I would have to SEE a change in his personality before I would even begin to trust him again. In fact, if he dared even offer me money, I would be EXTREMELY insulted. The girlfriend in the story obviously was of little morals herself!

IF anyone ever wrote me a check and told me to cash it under these certain circumstances, YES, I would cash the check under those circumstances.

No I would never accept $100,000.00 in regard to that in the first place. The fact that he cheated on her was bad enough, then he figured he could buy her love so to speak by giving her a check in that amount. The fact that he cheated the first time would have been enough for me.It is one thing to sit down and decide if you can forgive a cheater or not, but the fact that she accepted a check and stayed with him sounds to me like she was in it hoping for the money.

He should not be suing her, he is wrong in regard to that because he did make the deal....if that is what you want to call it. If it goes to court, and she does have documentation, I feel that he is dead in the water.To answer your question though, simply, no I would not spend it. I would say, fool me once...shame on you, fool me twice.. shame on me and I would find another fishie.

The lawsuit is silly. He gave her a check which could be cashed if certain contingency happened. It happened.

She had every right to cash the check, assuming that was their agreement, which would probably be called a conditional gift. Once the condition occured, the check and the money that it represented was hers to do what she wanted to do. So once she converted it into cash, it was her money.

Her former boyfriend is obviously a few bricks shy of a full load. I hope for her sake that she gets far away from him. He sounds like trouble down the road for someone, since wealth, drugs and poor impulse control often lead to homicide trials.

Nothing would go to charity. I'd be too hurt to think about anyone else. A Louis Vuiton bag, check... new apartment, check...Chihuahua, check...other expensive things I can't think of yet...check!

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
