If you won the lottery & the event was not publicized, would you keep this win a secret from your friends and family or would you flaunt it?

I agree it would be hard to hide. When I have a new house and I'm traveling all over the world, they're going to guess :p I would let family and friends know in stages. I would start by telling my parents, with a big "time to retire!" check, and then tell my siblings, best friend, and out further and further into my network.

I would definitely give money to people, so they could be more comfortable, pursue their passions, etc. I wouldn't call that "flaunting it," but just sharing the wealth. I'm a pretty private person, and I would probably become more private if I could afford to own my own space and stay away from people, so I would never be known by strangers as a lottery winner, but my friends and family would definitely hear early.

I probably wouldn't keep my winnings a secret, but I don't think flaunting is the right word for what I would do. I'm a generous person, by nature, and I love my friends and family. I can't imagine not sharing my winnings with the people I love.

I would consider their pride and their comfort level before any offers were made. I have family members who would only accept a loan, and I would be happy to invest in their projects or businesses rather than give a handout. I have several loved ones with pricey medical issues, and I would probably give anonymously to them to assist with those.

I wouldn't flaunt it but I would have no problem saying no to all my new found friends. I would share it with my close family and friends but if I haven't heard from you in ten or twenty years why am I hearing from you now-oh, I know. All these strangers who come forward with stories of great business and dying family I would ignore.

I go through stories like this now and I don't have millions to give away.

I would do everything I could to keep it a secret from friends and family. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if I was actually able to pull it off. I *really* don't want to be known as "that" guy who won the lottery.

With a bit of planning, it probably wouldn't even be too difficult to make it seem like you earned it.

I would keep it a secret until the money was secured in investments. When this type of situation happens, suddenly everyone you ever knew from the time you were born suddenly has an interest in you. Many of them will probably want money.

Besides the newfound friends and relatives, you will also be suddenly bombarded by a host of charity and not so charity organizations that will want donations. Everyone puts a hand out, and it's difficult to say no. By keeping it a secret, you can protect your privacy from the many people that will attempt to either get donations or try to scam you out of your money.By going public after a lawyer and accountant have been secured, then life will be a bit easier.

My first instinct would be to keep it a secret, especially if it was just enough to retire on. I'm pretty paranoid! I would be afraid that if I told everyone I just won a million dollars, then I would not know one moment of peace for the rest of my life.

Now, if it was way more money than I needed to retire (and I figure the interest on 2 million would be about perfect), then you betcha I would give generously to all my family and friends.

I don't think that I would be able to keep it a secret. I certainly would not want widespread fame, but my family and friends no darn well what I make at work. So to sport new clothes, a car, and buying a home would be a little hard to hide.

I would want to share that wealth with them. I am by no means a materialistic person, and helping a friend pay off their mortgage, would bring alot more joy, than a jet. There is so much good that could be done with that kind of money.....and I would start with them.

I wouldn't flaunt it to everyone I know, but I'd definitely be telling my friends and family. They care about me, after all, and winning the lottery is most certainly something they'd want to know about -- especially since I'd use part of the winnings to throw a party, travel with people, the like. I'd still be saving up some of the winnings, but what better use of lottery funds than to make people happy?

It would be too hard for me to keep it a secret. I think winning the lottery would be a HUGE thing and I would share with family and friends! flickr.com/photos/callmekade/3078025827/ This would be my ride to collect lol flickr.com/photos/lomokev/2552212346.

I don't think I'd "flaunt" it but knowing me, I wouldn't be able to keep it a secret for very long. I would be bursting to tell someone. I would want to share my large fortune with the people close to me so I would have to tell my best friends and family so I could give them some of it.

I wouldn't flaunt it in front of people. That is just plain rude. :-).

Pick one and use it if someone just won’t let up. Winning the lottery can be a dream come true, but only 1 in almost 200 million people actually win the Powerball lottery, for example. While those are some seriously stacked odds, the fact is that some people do eventually win and usually have no idea what to do afterwards.

If you’ve won the lottery or know someone who has, consider the tips above. You’ll be familiar with what to do should your dream come true. If you’re looking to play the lottery, check out TheLotto.com, an easy way to buy lottery tickets online from around the world.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
