Definitely! Misty Copeland started at 13, as well. You are never to old to begin dancing.
Dance is not just this competitive thing, many people do it just because they love it. I would say take a ballet class to start off. Ballet is the base of dance, and will help you in any other styles you choose to pursue if you continue on in dance.
Add a jazz class after that, but I would say wait a year before beginning contemporary. I wish you the best of luck!
Fortunately you can find a teen beginner ballet class. Ballet is where you should begin. Jazz is based off of ballet technique but just not using turnout.
Contemporary has no technique of its own and relies heavily on ballet training. Many of the better recreational schools won't allow jazz or contemporary or most other dance genres without first training in ballet. What is most important is to start in a beginner class.
You cannot skip the basics and expect to learn properly. If you cannot find a teen or teen/adult beginner class you may be allowed to train with students who are a couple of years younger than you. Recreational dance is for anyone of any age or abilities.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
