Think how I feel. I was reading one case brief and thought that this man (and I use the term loosely) was a potential serial rapist and then, in checking deeper, he was. It's hard to tell how many he raped from 76 to 80, when he was arrested.
There are levels of rapists. Some may actually not know what they are doing. They may be mentally ill or just not able to see what is going on.
Or, the girl may be partially at fault, in that she doesn't say "No" strongly enough (thank you for brainwashing them to be slaves to men) and just go along with it thinking they have no choice. Then, there are the scum who prey on minors, and not just children. Some target pre-teens and infants, but some actually target teenagers.
Thankfully, we have statutory rape for some of these, but the punishments aren't always enough. A man who kidnaps and rapes a 2-year-old needs more than prison. If they murder the child, we can execute them, but... Rarely is the man who shoves a gun in a woman's face convicted, let alone sentenced to be executed.
It might be nice, but then the government won't do it half the time. If he' s black, and she's white, yeah, but not if the jerk is white. If he's a cop, he usually walks free.
"Our" system isn't fair, but then what's new? I don't disagree. If they have a history, execution is justified.
And, not just if they kill. If they rape a dozen women, then execute them. Most of them go to prison and rape again.
Of course, no one cares about those in prison. But, we have a problem. What if someone innocent is accused?
This happened back in the 1980s. It's called, today, Satanic Ritual Abuse, but the fact is that some kids made up allegations, thanks to adults, and people were actually arrested and had their lives ruined because of this. On nothing but the say of the children, police arrested men and tried them.
Even before this, we had people being arrested and, thanks to DNA, they are being released today, after being found innocent of the charges. What's worse, less than 1% of the victims make up false reports. But, because of this, the other 99% are suspected, and even accused, of making up false charges.
All it takes is one woman to make up a charge and ALL victims suffer. Say, a girl wants to get back at her ex or a mother wants to get custody so she accuses the father. This hurts them all.
Worse, if the child was abused, and the mother identifies the wrong man, the child may suffer more and may not find justice when she can talk on her own. And, men are "smart." The know that other men will feel sympathetic for them if they say she wanted it but suddenly changed her mind, or she was drinking.
They use drugs to make it harder for the girl to say no. In short, they put all the burden on the girl to prove it. Worse, most girls don't really know what to do when it happens.
They fear reporting it, clean up, or somehow otherwise make mistakes that let the scum off. And, all of this is in addition to the confusing and stress of the actual event. I'm sorry to hear about your cousin.
I'm glad the man was caught, and I hope he gets convicted. But, don't be surprised if he doesn't. At least he has a "record" now and that may help.
Personally, I like the one law where a rapist must MARRY and take care of his victim, for life. No divorce. If he wanted sex so badly, he can take care of her afterward.
I understand your pain, and these rapists should deserve a more cruel punishment but right now you need to hide your tears and be there for your cousin after all he/she the one that had to go through such a terrible trauma, if you're not strong how are they going to get over this incident. If these are feelings that YOU want to get rid of and are unable to then. Try considering a psychologist or try talking to someone in your "real life" sometimes it really helps to talk to someone.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
