I'm looking for a book about a murder/love story/ haunting The story switches between the far away past and the present. In the past there was a murder (axe murder I think? ).

And in the same house or area a girl lives with her grandmother (i think). The girl thinks her house is haunted...she also meets a boy and falls in love. In the end I think he dies in a car crash.

A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
