I'm looking for a book I read at school about 30 years ago but can't remember title or author?

I'm looking for a book I read at school about 30 years ago but can't remember title or author... It was about world war II and a young man who was a conscientious objector. He was a bit of an outcast and referred to as "Conchi" but he came good in the end by rowing across the North Sea and taking part in the sea evacuation at Dunkirk. I thought it might have been Paul Gallico's "Snow Goose" but I bought and read a copy and that's not it.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
