My favorite cookbook The book in the widget is my favorite cookbook, bar none. It is the one I used for nearly all my cooking. Because it is meatless, nearly all the recipes have no cholesterol.

Some recipes do call for eggs, cheese, or dairy, so those do have some cholesterol. I bought this book when I eliminated meat from my diet in 1996. I’m not saying you need to go vegetarian.

But the recipes in this book were so “familiar,” they made my transition to healthier eating much easier. All the ingredients in the recipes are mainstream and can be bought at any regular grocery story. Most of them you don’t even need to go to the heath food aisle.

There’s lots of beans, veggies, and grains like rice. There are some tofu recipes (which I ignore because I don’t like it), but nothing really weird like seaweed. I even got my teenage kids and husband to eat what I made from this book.
