I'm looking for an efficient cat litter box for multiple cats that absolutely prevents litter scatter?

I'm looking for an efficient cat litter box for multiple cats that absolutely prevents litter scatter. I have multiple cats that DO NOT have any problem using one box. I've bought many different litter boxes that claim to prevent litter scatter, but even the newest one I bought two days ago doesn't.

I've almost got myself convinced that I will never find something.....but that I have to construct my own. It's like cats need a 5 foot long contained runway with a screen below to capture the scatter, with out this it's hopeless. And all these new fandangled boxes are not nearly "small" enough.....I mean, they don't stay kittens forever.

Okay, so this isn't perfect but it helped My boyfriend and I have three cats, the smallest of which seems to find enjoyment in simply kicking out as much litter as possible! We live in little studio apartment, so the litter box has to remain in the bathroom or else it's living with us which is unacceptable. What we did, since we can't build a litter room, was this: (please try to picture this as I will try my best to explain it) Instead of having cabinets under the bathroom sink we have was is basically an open hutch, a cabinet minus doors. It's pretty deep, so we placed the cat pan (no hooded top because the other two cats are monsters and need space) sideways and all the way against the wall in the back of the hutch.

We then got a lot of really rough indoor/outdoor mats, not the spiky kind because the little one won't walk on them, but the rough carpet feeling kind. The mats are not only under the litter box itself but also all the way up and out of the hutch, forcing the cats to walk on the mats as the exit. This actually knocks off a lot of litter.

It's not perfect, a little litter still gets past, but not nearly as much as before. After three days to a week just vacuum the litter off the mats.(depending on the little cat we may vacuum more often. It's what my boyfriend gets for naming a cat Gremlin! ) Anyway, I hope this helps!

If you find something better please let me know!.

There are several ways to reduce and eliminate litter tracking. While there are some litter box's that can reduce litter tracking, the best bet is to change the litter itself. Feline Pine cat litter makes a non tracking formula that works quite well.It can be baught online or at any pet store such as Petco.

Another litter that is totally non tracking is "Litter Master" cat litter. (littermaster.com) Litter Master cat litter is not only tracking free but is much healither for your cats and I know several vet's who swear by it. There are also several versions of cat litter that are made out of recycled paper that is almost trackless - however this kind of cat litter is not usually clumping.

Another good brand of cat litter is Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat Ultra Clumping Litter, this litter in my experience does not totally reduce tracking but it does make a significant reduction. (and I have 4 cats myself who all use one litter box)Another option, albeit a more expensive option is a mechanical litter box.Do *not* get the kind with a rake - with more then one or two cats those become useless and will break almost instantly. However the "Litter Robot" (litter-robot.com) is a very good option for people with many cats and the way it is set up it greatly reduces tracking.

Another option is the "Omega Paw" litter box's, these are not mechanical, you simply turn them upside down and then roll them back right side up and it sifts through all the cat litter for you. Its almost as good as a mechanical one for easy litter box clean up, and they are much cheaper. They have a mat that you can buy with the litter box that is supposed to reduce tracking.

I have heard good things about it though I have not tried it myself. Sources: In My Opinion .

There's a good one by Rubbermaid with high sides and a mat. Have you tried this one yet? It has high sides for when they go digging, and a mat in front to help brush off their feet.

I agree it's really annoying to get litter bits everywhere but this is the best one I've found so far. Good luck! Rubbermaid® PetsTM gh Sided Litter Pan and AccessoriesThe gh Sided Litter Pan has high sides to control litter scatter; measures 23.4"L x 18.25"W x 11"H.

The Litter Mat fits most litter boxes and is colored to camouflage litter scatter; has a non-skid backing and measures 23.2" x 26". The Litter Caddy and Scoop is designed for the Extra Large Litter Box; caddy contains and conceals included litter scoop and can be hooked onto the litter box; measures 11" x 6". 1 The problem is that the cats carry litter out on their feet. We have multiple boxes with multiple litter-catching mats around them, and litter still gets all over the place. (That's why the boxes are in the basement.) Your idea of a contained walkway with a screen is about the first thing I've heard of that would probably work.

:-)I've never had a box or a mat that caught all the litter. It would take something that magically wiped or vaccuumed their feet to get all the litter that's caught in the fur and between their toes.

2 Thanks taylor928... I imagine I'll be getting inventive with that contained walkway idea... I just hate getting out of the shower and steping in scattered litter.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
