Raising the debt limit has always been seen as a 'housekeeping measure' to keep up with the disparity between money spent and revenues collected. Who spends this money? Who collects these revenues?
All that stuff is done by Congress. All the bills to spend money and to collect revenue must originate in the House of Representatives. So tell me, if Congress spends money and then refuses to pay the bills, how is this Obama's 'crime'?
Up to now, the debt ceiling has been raised more or less automatically. It was House Republicans who decided to make an issue of this, to try to get their way by holding up payment of money THEY had already spent. Obama offered some very serious concessions, even allowing SS and Medicare to be 'on the table', but the Republicans refused to deal in good faith.
They see compromise as capitulation. Tell me how that's Obama's fault.
No. The Republicans in Congress are holding this thing. Up because they will not agree to anything the President proposes and they want the economy to be bad in preparation for upcoming elections.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
