Just because technology can create millions and millions of cars, that's no reason why it should be done as a good thing, except for greed of course. Our environment is harmed, oil is pursued relentlessly, the list goes on. This is not directly harmful but just because medical research is prolonging human life, it doesn't mean it will benefit everyone.
If you are poor, homeless, and ailing what are the benefits of 20 more years of the same? Just my opinion.
Technology hasn't really harmed humanity; humanity has harmed humanity. The machines and computers and everything mechanical don't do any harm; the harm comes from their overuse, their misuse, and their abuse by humans. We can be our own worse enemies; but our enemies are not the machines or the technology.
We are never satisfied, which can be a good thing or a bad thing. We always want more, and sometimes fail to look at the consequences of our actions. But sometimes that's not really our fault--our reach exceeds our grasp, and we aren't smart or open enough to fully seen those consequences until they happen.
Most things in life have a good and bad side. For example money has a good side to it and a bad side to. If you have enough money.
A person can afford to buy certain forms of technology to prolong their life. If you do not have the money. No technology will be provided for you if you have no money to save your life.
That says a lot about human compassion in some people. Computers are a form of technology. The good side about it.Is that it provides lots of information for teachers, doctors, lawyers, NASA,libraries, police officers and much more.
The down side of the computer is there are people who abuse it. Cyber bullies, porn,Child molesters who try to contact under age children and much more. There are a lot of things that helps mankind benefit from the use of technology.
And when ever the years roll by someone else will invent something that will be useful and for the good of mankind. But depending on what form of technology it is. There are others out there looking for ways to abuse it.
And that is where the harm part comes into the picture. :) .
"I don't think the poor or homeless really get the advantages of modern medical technolgoy. When we hear of breakthrough's on the news, we're hearing about breakthroughs for those who can pay out of pocket or have Cadillac insurance plans - not the average person - not even the middle class. I remember reading that breast cancer is not found early enough with mammograms and that, I believe, MRI's are the way to go to ensure early detection.
I know my insurance does not cover MRI's even for those women with multiple "at risk" factors. Instead, my insurance has limited mammograms and pap smears to once every two years instead of every year. Managed health care for profit not managed healthcare for equitable medical coverage for all Americans.
I think we should ask the ancient Egyptians, The Romans, The Greeks and The Samarians this question.
Technology has always used the method of "we will do it and if we have problems we will fix them as we go. "So while we move toward safer systems, people die and we take it for granted tht they will die. A safer method would perfect things before they are used.
Which way do you prefer. The new technology also saves some lives. Consider artificial hearts. So far many have died testing them.
But we could have a heart for $500 made in Japan or China if we keep trying.
Expecting things instantly, people have little patience and we have stopped fixing things that are broken we just throw away and buy new.
It has made it so that most kids will never be able to experience hanging out with friends the way we once did.
Technology can only harm humanity when the mental and emotional level of human development is not mature enough to approach it wisely. Therefore, in many cases, technology is used to further the expression of human imbalance. Technology in the hands of ignorance harms humanity.
Therefore, a great deal of technological advancement is being misused, and in this, the human issues not dealt with are magnified and made more powerful via technology. For example, humans who desire to steal and cheat can now use the internet to exponentially expand on their activities. Those who wish to harm others can now used advanced technology to do so more efficiently.
Being absorbed in texting all day takes away from the human ability to be present in the moment which increased effectiveness and productivity. A child who has problems interacting with others can now develop a whole new identity in a video game and recede even further from human contact. Whole countries who's leaders are not emotionally intelligent can threaten other countries with advanced technological weapons.
A computer goes down in Milwaukee and a person's credit card won't go through at the corner market 4 states away. Everything is becoming so computerized and hands off, that when a computer goes down, everything is at a standstill. So, along with all of the great stuff our technology affords us, as with all else, there is another side to the coin.
Technology in the hands of a more enlightened human species would be a very different thing, but it is a slave to unresolved human issues.
Where can I find an organizations that are like Habitat For Humanity FOR the U.S. My family is in need of help. " "Who said "it is better to love out of humanity than friendship? "" "science and technology has done more harm than good to our society, discuss?" "Homes for Humanity........does it seem like they are being built more for Blacks, etc....?" "people have been harmed or damage of science or technology by" "has science done more harm than good to humanity" "If someone became a cannibal out of necessity would they completely lose their humanity?
" "who is the most famous person on humanity? " "Why/how we fit in a society?" "What one activity would you choose to do that would offer the most to humanity?
Where can I find an organizations that are like Habitat For Humanity FOR the U.S. My family is in need of help.
People have been harmed or damage of science or technology by.
Has science done more harm than good to humanity.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
