We bridge every gap by not listening to sound bites and quoting bumper stickers as if they were gospel, but becoming educated in the real issues facing this nation. As soon as we focus on race or other forms of attack politics, everyone loses, no matter who wins the election.
They won't even try. The best piece of election news I heard was this- on the night of the election, the people around Romney were watching the votes be counted. They were shocked as they lost state after state.
Sure, they won several, but sparsely populated states, and states with low college education rates. Obama dominated battleground after battleground state. A close campaign manager said he was shocked- the idea that they would lose "had never even occurred to us".
Really? It didn't even OCCUR to you? Blacks and hispanics have voted democrat for the last 60 years.
Kerry won 93% of the black vote. Obama won 97% of the black vote 4 years prior. College students and women were voting for Obama 7 to 3.
And it never OCCURRED TO THEM that they might lose? That shows such hubris, such a lack of understanding of the American public, such utter disdain and disregard for women, minorities, anyone that isn't a white male, that I see little chance for them winning 2016. White men are only 40% of this country.
When you didn't even REALIZE THE OTHER 60% DID NOT SUPPORT YOU, AT ALL, you are doomed. Can you imagine a football team that made it to the super bowl, and never thought the other team could ever beat them? You could analzye yards ran and throw distances and all those metrics, but the other team still got there, to a face off of one against one.
To say "I never thought we could lose, so we never even thought about it" would be hilarious. And yet, that's the Republican platform in 2012: "We never really thought about it".
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
