When Michael Behe was presented with papers, and books, regarding the evolution of the immune system, he still said it wasn't enough (and even admitted to not have read said documents). Michael Behe has indeed a respectable career behind him, I heard his dissertation about sickle cell anemia is very robust, and he is a professor. But for one Michael Behe, there are countless other experts, some more prestigious than him, some less, which accept evolution.
Not that Michael has nothing to win from ID, he would be his spokesman, there is money involved... Still, His position cannot be used for creationists, keep in mind that he DOES believe in common ancestry with apes, he believes the Earth is billions of years old and all that. He just thinks life poofed into existance at the protoanimal level, or at least developed with a helping hand. Michael's argument is a perfect example of appeal to personal ignorance and false dichotomy.
"it is unconcievable that the immune system evolved" which really means "I cannot concieve how the immune system evolved" then he says "therefore an intelligent designer did it" when in fact there are infinite other potential explanations. Edit: If your belief in the way god intervened in evolution is by affecting mutations, im sorry but you're in for a big disappointment. For every beneficial mutation (the one that appears intentional) there are a lot of bad mutations, and COUNTLESS of neutral mutations.
Im not saying they cannot be possibly intended, im just saying they behave AS IF they were random. If you study chemical thermodynamics, you'll even understand the random process that governs them. The simplest explanation is that they are indeed random.
The other is that the second law of thermodynamics is temporarily halted at the time of a cell mitosis to allow an intelligent entity which there is no evidence of its existance to arrange the errors in dna replication in a way that would happen anyway if the 2nd law wasn't halted. Clearly one is more plausible than the other.
Yes, I have. They're nothing but baseless claims of magic. There's NO evidence to back up any claims made by ID proponents.
Michael Behe did not prove intelligent design.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
