NO! Askville is a FUN place to come visit with friends, ask and answer interesting questions and enjoy yourself. If it’s not those things to you any more, take a break and reframe your experience.

If you aren’t familiar with the term "reframe" it means that you change the way you think about something. If you’re seeing only the negatives, make a conscious effort to seek out four or five positives. * Yesterday I did something that was for me a personal exercise, but turned out to be a really delightful experience.

I challenged myself to compose a brief document that I am calling My Askville Manifesto. I’ll share it with you, here: * "I am here to play. If at any time it feels like work, I’ll go read a book.

I will not report abuse, make suggestions, or criticize their efforts. I will tolerate their ineptitude, as the price of admission. * I will navigate AV in any way I see fit, and do so with irreverence.

It’s a GAME. If I dislike one aspect of the game, I will circumvent it to the best of my ability, and encourage others who dislike it to do so, also. If I find a way to make the game more enjoyable, I’ll employ it, and share that knowledge with my friends.

I will play with transparency and integrity, and encourage my friends to do likewise. " * I plan to read it often, and practice it. I’m sure I’ll slip up sometimes and either engage with a troublemaker, or criticize the staff.

But with practice I expect to become expert at following my own advice. Do I take my Askville too seriously, you may ask, if I need a frickin’ manifesto to get through the day? Well, yes and no.

I rarely take it seriously at all. I am usually here just having fun. But on the rare occasion when I do take it seriously, I can take it to extremes, and forget it’s a game.
