Secondly, I noted your comment about them not wanting to integrate with English in the U.K.. I take it then that you feel they get on fine with the Welsh, for example. Such blatant generalisations are not helpful at all and some of what you say is very unpleasant. Again, I don't know who you are on about when you just refer to them as Eastern Europeans.
It suggests you don't know who you're talking about.
I think that main thing is that you are dealing with emigrants who were forced to leave their country because they had not enough money and their lives were not successful. That s one thing. Another, I can speak for Poland only, but I think WWII followed by 45 years of communism made people unhappy and disappointed, communist government promoted working class people, it was ok to be rude, corruption was very common.
Society was poor, government showed no values. No private business was allowed, you didn t have to be nice to customers so they wouldn t go shopping somewhere else,so shop assistants didn t bother to smile or be polite. All those things contributed to bad attitude among society.
At the same time Poles can be very kind and friendly, especially when you get to know them. An Irish friend of mine went to Poland recently, he said that hospitality was unbelievable. I have to say I find many English arrogant, especially from high society.
They don t want to mix with anyone, they don t even want to chat with foreigners, and if they smile it s fake. They say one thing and do another. And they are definitely not sensitive to other members of society, but very sensitive about money.
So I think I prefer my fellow Poles drinking some vodka on the street, as long as they are not aggressive. I think we all have issues. Try to talk to those Eastern Europeans , ask them about something more private, they should open up and change their attitude.
They all feel very small among English, it s the complex.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
