The first thing that comes to mind to answer this question, is a simple, YES. But if you stop and really take a good look at why there is a automated response in our brains regarding greed, you can start to argue that same learned response. Growing up, you often hear the phrases, "karma is a bitch", "money can't buy happiness", "do unto others as you would have them do unto you", and last but not least, " don't be greedy".
Greed is often associated with money. It is a behavior that seems to be greatly used by any person trying to succeed only for themselves at the sake of no others. But, can you still be greedy, and turn it into a positive attribute?
YES.In order to succeed in this society, greed is needed. It means you can stand up for yourself, you have a plan, and you want to be accomplished. However, in order for greed to have a positive attribute in your life or the life of another, you have to disengage "greed" and "selfish" and engage it to "greed" and "opportunity".
You can be a driven individual, who uses set opportunities to fulfill a better life or better situation for yourself as well as others. In this case, you can be greedy with money, things, jobs, etc because you know it will not only benefit your self, but it would benefit others. It's when you engage back "greed" and "selfish" and have no other motive but yourself, is when greed is harmful.
Although greed is one of the original seven deadly sins think of where the world would be without it. It acts as an incentive to motivate even if it is for personal gain. Who would build or manufacture without it.
If your personal greed does not hurt others than it's not evil. When you kill for greed then it is evil. Weren't Countries founded by the greed of wealth and land.
Without looking at a dictionary, I myself think that greed is always evil and it can never have a positive attribute. Greed is what makes people kill and steal other people's things, power and happiness. These are what I think describes a greedy one.
I'd say the only positive aspect of greed is it acts as a motivator. People can do both amazingly good things and bad in the event they offered some gainful incentive that appeals to greed whether it's an actual offered incentive or one they've created. (Ex/ If I believe working hard will get me money and do so only to get money this is a positive result of greed.) Over all I don't feel the human drive to always have more than they have is a good one though.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
