Is Ignorance really bliss?

It depends on the situation. If you are ignorant, about the world it can get you into dangerous and life threatening situations. Ignorance of the law is no defence in an English court.

However, the act of sharing information is harmful too, in some situations; telling a secret to the wrong person, or to someone, who has no right to that information, for example, gossip harms the listener, the gossip and the person who is being gossiped about.

Sometimes, information is power sometimes it is not, and it is necessary to decide each case on its own circumstances. Discretion is often the better part of valour, but sometimes it is better to leave someone in blissful ignorance.

Yes it is. The person that usually reveals this dark burning secret is doing so for their own satisfaction. If the information shared is not beneficial for the person receiving it, don't share it.

If it won't make a difference one way or another concerning their life, don't share it. If they will live the same life without it, don't share it.

Not all information shared is okay. There are tons of examples where you share and it benefits no one. It hurts everyone and they would have lived a better life without it and didn't really need to know because in the end it didn't make a difference.

The old saying that the truth will set you free is only for the one telling the story. I know this sounds really bad, but most of the time its simply misery loves company and people want other people to be unhappy because they are.

Don't use the old stand by of "i would want to know". Would you really? Think about it.

If you have something to share that really should be shared, by all means do share. Though, you should really think about sharing when it only benefits the one that wants to gossip.

I do believe there are times when ignorance isnt bliss. I believe I may have seen the other side of things way too often. 0smile.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
