Personally, I think it is very necessary. It lets the reader know you value their input and readership. Occasionally comments may get lost in the shuffle, but generally it is best to reply and acknowledge each person posting.
I have seen replies to comments done in list form in the same comment box. This is common when there have been several comments made in a short time.
I have not always been diligent in replying to comments and I apologize. It is common courtesy to do so. Not replying is much the same as ignoring someone when they are talking to you.
I now make every effort to reply to all comments; sometime it is difficult when the comment isn't very nice (and I have seen a lot of that on different sites and forums), but keep in mind you must stay professional. This is very important for those of us who make writing our career.
Obviously it is never necessary to reply to the comments left by the reader. However, I feel that if someone has taken the time to read what I have written, and then taken even more time to leave a cooment, I can and should respond in kind.
I so appreciate someone taking the time to read and comment, that I am almost compelled to do so.
I take pleasure in reading the comments also. It is only by the comments left that you really know if someone has read your work.
Not always, but it would be a nice sentiment to do so.
I can't imagine not replying to each and every comment people are good enough to leave on my hubs! I agree with brsmom68, it is common courtesy to do so. Often (not always but often) people leave comments because they want to start a dialogue.
Therefore I agree with brsmom68 again, to ignore comments (as some hubbers, who shall remain nameless, do) is like ignoring someone who is standing right next to you, talking to you.
Even if the remark is very short and generic like "Nice hub," reply in kind with the common courtesy we all learned at our mother's knee.
It is not necessary to reply , in order to remain, a HP writer.
However, I am about courtesty...........if you took the time to leave a commentary, of any sort, to my hub.............the LEAST that I can do, is to acknowledge that you came and read. I do this even for those, who express an opposing view.
It is not necessary...but it can help generate converstaions. Once you have generated a converstaion more people will be apt to look at your hub and join in on the converstation. So, I would personally recommened that you do it!
Not necessary but always polite to if it requires an answer.
If you leave any blankspaces on the page it will look worse . It is up to you.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
