Not all of us are, some can be quite mean but they are just trying to help even if they come across as mean they don't mean it.
If you're referring to the people who tell dancers that becoming a professional is out of reach or that they shouldn't be on pointe yet, that's a thing called being realistic. I have always seen mintchips and zhops in particular being fairly respectful unless someone is asking a question when they obviously don't know what they're talking about and are trying to act like they do (e.g. "I'm a ballerina, when can I get my pointe shoes?"). Being realistic isn't being mean.
I would prefer someone being honest than giving false hope.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
