Is it better to sell my Saturn privately or through a GMC dealership?

There are pros and cons of selling your saturn privately or through the dealership. Most people don't have time to keep a car detailed and answer calls from prospective buyers. Also, everytime you try to show the car, you are in essessce letting a total stanger get in the same car with you which could endanger your safety.

Also, there are a lot of criminals that prey on people who are selling cars and may try to offer fake "certified checks". Think of Farah from the MTV show "16 and pregnant" that got taken on a car sale. You will likely make more money selling a car privately than selling it to the dealer.

The dealer is in the business to make money and will likely give you a below wholesale price for the car. Dealers do not use the NADA or Blue book and use something called the "black book" to determine car values the "black book" is a weekly book of recent dealer-only auction sales prices for cars. If you are buying a new car, or just looking, I would try to find out the lowest price you can get for a car, then after you already have the lowest price, tell the dealer you are looking to trade in your saturn.

You will then likely get a true estimate of the value of the car. If the value is too low, and you have time, you can sell your car privately. Many dealers will tell you they are giving you x amount for your car, but in reality they are simply using the car discount to make the person feel better.

Unless you already have negotiated the price of the car without the trade, a dealer will never give the actual value of the car.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
