All depends on what I am watching. If it's a movie or a show that you need to hear every word, it drives me crazy when someone tries to talk over the TV. If I am watching TV with children and they want to know what is going on or have a question about something on TV, I welcome the questions and remarks.
I think many people nowadays are multi-tasked but, having a conversation or interacting with someone should be an event that catches our undivided attention. Not because we wouldn't be able to do more than one thing at a time but because the person we are interacting with deserves our respect. Otherwise, why would we even initiate that interaction?
You can be talking to the person on the phone or texting for example and then not really pay attention to the converstaion and simply ignore and neglect instead of showing appreciation. Or another example would be texting while watching tv. Sometimes the reply would take up to five minutes or more just to reply something like, "Oh yeah, I agree." or "LOL".
It clearly shows uninterest in the conversation. I believe if you'd interact with someone make sure there are no distractions. And if you enjoy watching your tv then make sure there are no distractions either.
There are ways to tell people that you would like to have that conversation or interaction at a later time when you can give your undivided attention. Being polite is a must. Just excuse yourself and ask to return the call or text later.
I am sure the person would understand. And make sure you keep your word about it too. Same rule applies for having sex.
Hahaha. Seriously people! This way you avoid neglecting your loved ones and you get your personal time to enjoy your shows without interruptions..
I hate the 'reality' shows that ask you to phone in during commercials. In this respect I am against interaction because I loathe these shows. As for interacting with people in the same room as you are watching a show, I say why not?
It can add to the enjoyment of the show. Mind you there's not that many shows worth watching and commenting on except to say how bad they are. The only American idols I am interested in are my volcanic stone statue of King Kamehameha from Hawaii and an Elvis toy that speaks to you, dear watcher of 'reality' poison. It tells me that 'you ain't nothing but a hound dog'.
Oh, yeah!
Yes! I can't stand doing nothing while watching tv. I normally write or do homework while a show is on.
But my favorite thing to do is to work out while an upbeat movie with plenty of action is on.
Yup if you are more interested in what is being said rather than watch your show frame by frame because cutting vegetables while watching American Idol probably not a good Idea, "unless you have spare fingers" lol.
Doing absolutely anything is better than watching TV. TV's should be illegal and if caught with one you should get at least ten years hard labour, whether you were watching it or not! If you're caught plugging it in, you should get an extra five years for being stupid!
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
