Is it possible to be cured of alcoholism through belief in God, coming to Him through Jesus?

I truly believe so. My own desires for a "partying" lifestyle (mainly just drinking beer) and going out all night and many nights...were transformed in an instant when I became closer to Jesus. All of the sudden, that was under control.

The desire to do that particular thing...all the time... just escaped me. So yes...I believe God can cure alcoholism in a blink of an eye...in his perfect timing.

Yes, if Christ could be defeated by alcoholism, He would not be the holder of ALL power and authority.

AA get people to curse themselves in every meeting when they are required to say they are recovering alcoholics.

If you give the authority to Christ, really give Christ 100% authority to change whatever in your life, you will be set free, and even better, in due time, you will be able to drink alcohol without excess.

Heartfelt prayer and faith in God will definitely save one from the desire to drink. God helps those who help themselves. It is one's desire and willingness to stop drinking that will be totally supported by God's grace and mercy.

My father passed away last year from lung cancer at the age of 68.

My father had spent most of his life addicted to alcohol and used illegal drugs off and on during my formative years and into my early twenties.

He was by definition an alcoholic. As a child and then later as a young man I never saw my father sober. When he got home from work he would immediately start drinking.

Children live what they know so I assumed that drinking everyday and being under the influence of alcohol was normal for men. At least in my household it was.

Yes but not always will it be a miracle or a wonderous event. Sometimes people have a deeply ingrained desire for alcohol and inspite of what they know and have lost and the many headaches and hangovers and through the lack of food they go back to it, over and over, time and time again.

When temptation comes our way, if we earnestly desire to overcome that tempting, we pray, get on our knees and pray about everything we can think of, pray to god that the inclination to sin go away. Spend 3 minutes.

40 hrs, whatever it takes.. but through prayer we can be strengthened by christ to not sin. If we do not desire change in ourselves and our lives, chances are we will not pray and we will end up sinning.

We need to fall on the rock for strength and salvation.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
