Yes, you can gain mastery with your trees on Zynga's Farmville. You will also be able to eventually achieve tree mastery in Farmville. There are two ways to earn coins the trees that you have planted.

They are earning ribbons and mastery. The same action is done in order to earn either ribbons or mastery and that is you need to harvest your trees. There are 4 ribbons to earn and 3 mastery levels.

Both, are earned by the number of times you harvest them. Trees mature on average between 2-3 days, typically. You do not earn xp from harvesting, but, just coins.

However, you will earn a ton a lot of coins and xp points, when you advance mastery levels for your trees. You will receive a star, each time you pass a level.
