As a rat owner myself I know how great they can be as pets, he is DEFINITELY a male, mine are about 8inches full grown so he is definitely very young too, which might help out if you still want to tame him. Yes as the close minded rat haters say, he could be carrying disease, or fleas, fleas can be removed with dawn dish soap, I recommend earning his trust with food and treats before you touch him with bare hands. Do NOT let him run around untill you are able to hold him and he seems calm, even then maybe not.
He WILL run away. Handle him with thick rubber gloves untill he trusts you enough to not bite and give him a dawn bath to remove any little nasties. Rats naturally bond well with humans who care for them so if it works you should have a nice little companion!
Good Luck!
Go watch some videos of wild rats on you tube. You are going to get sick. So if you don't want to listen just put your hand in the cage and try to tame him like that but call your Dr first and make an appointment so he's ready for you.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
