Is it possible to reduce the file or image size without loosing the quality when sending or viewing photos?

I have been working with iPhoto and Pages on the Mac. Once I create documents in order to send them, I have to reduce the file sizes either within Pages, Preview and/or Adobe Acrobat. However, I am loosing the quality of any images that I use in the document.

They all begin to look blurry... How can I keep or retain the quality of my photographs or images when I either print, post (internet) or email? Is it possible to reduce the file or image size without loosing the quality? Compressing photos does not have to reduce the quality . . .

If you do things carefully and in the right order Before you do any work on an image, make a copy of the original and store it under a different file name. That allows you to revert to the untouched version. If you use Photoshop, use the layers feature so that you can edit an image on a layer, leaving the original file still available.Do all of your image editing and enhancement at the full image size.

Adjust colors, do cropping and (most importantly) wait until the image is completely adjusted before you do any image sharpening. Then, understand the difference in necessary resolution for viewing an image on-screen versus resolution for printing. For viewing on screen you can set the resolution at 72dpi (Windows standard) or 96dpi (Macintosh standard.

) Either way the image will be smaller. For printing, you generally will want at least 150dpi, and preferably 300dpi which requires a larger file. And then realize that a compressed file format like JPG will not cause much loss of detail if it is applied once.

BUT: if you compress the file and then do some more editing and then compress it again you are multiplying the effects . .. And then you get into loss of quality. (Stay away from GIF compression; it introduces loss and reduces the numbers of colors.) Pick one or the other If you want to reduce file size, you will lose some image quality. Esp since the way you are doing it does not allow for file comrpression. You would be better off to do the images as a jpg and send them seperate.

Keep in mind, if it is just going to be viewed onscreen or on a projector, you don't need files of as A monitor only shows at 72 DPI. Most projectors will only do 72-100dpi, so that will allow you to lower the image size to get better transmissions. Also Iphoto is not a good way to edit or do anything else with your image.

Its a fair image labeling and sorter, but still its main purpose was to allow a person to view a photo on the apple system. Use Photoshop or elements to resize and do any editing you might want to do. Also the camera quality will greatly affect the image quality based on the size you are using it in your document.

If the document is being printed out, the image needs to be atleast 240 DPI, and should really be 300DPI. So keep that in mind. And the type of camera and its sensor size, and then the MP will all affect how well it can be presented.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
