Is it save to drink the water from our dehumidifier that in the basement?

Well, YES..but...NO... Actually, the water is very pure, distilled water...free of minerals, chemicals and contaminants... BUT...very often, mold and mildew form on the condensing coils...and some of the mold spores could drip into the water....and, being in the basement...dust is also falling into the collection bin. I might consider using the water from a dehumidifier in my clothes iron...because it has no minerals to build up in the iron...but I'd hesitate drinking it...because of the mold spore possibility. It might be, But it has been standing at room temperature for a while. I would boil it first... and then only use it if there were a natural disaster and no other water were available.

It may not kill you but it would not benefit you in anyway and may make you sick. A moist basement usually is an excellent location for mold and bacteria and your body needs neither. The de-humidifier is also an excellent location for those and other molds & bateria.

Probably yes if you take proper steps to clean it. I would say if you boiled the water to insure it is clean it probably would be safe to drink but I would not recommend it. First it really can't be that much water...literally pennies worth.

A better use for it would be to water plants or some other use where you need water. Personally I would not drink it. If you want to save it/not waste it find another use..

Nope In theory, it's distilled water. In practice, it's very dirty water as it picks up every bit of gunk in the air. Plus if the water sits there for hours the germs have a chance to multiply..

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
