The labor participation rate has been falling for nearly two decades. The primary reasons are baby boomers retiring, and a propensity for people to stay in school longer. So cons who have chosen to ignore the fact we are enjoying the longest period of continuous job growth in history and instead bemoan the participation rate are really saying they want an America where few get educated, and everyone has to work until the day they die.
