She is an ELECTED official. She took an oath of office. She is not in a position to make laws, change laws or pick and choose which laws she supports or doesn't support.
Her personal religious beliefs have nothing to do with her job duties and responsibilities. If she doesn't like the rules, she should find another job.
Look at it just as a workplace issue: She had a job for some years, which she did well, and suddenly they gave her a duty that conflicted with her personal religious views. To be fair, when she took that job, she could not have predicted this. So she refuses to do it, and ends up in civil contempt of court.
Well, she realizes she is not going to change the law, but she does not feel she should be fired from this job she has had for years, and done well at until the new duty was imposed on her. She is trying to negotiate a fair deal for herself in the workplace by getting a transfer. That makes sense.
If she has not handled the situation the way I would have done, she has been paying for it.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
