Is it very hard to replace the power board on a Acer 4520 laptop?

According to the service guide for that model (page 72 specifically), there is no separate power subsystem in the machine but, rather, it is part of the motherboard and, thus, if the problem does not turn out to be the AC adapter itself, then the motherboard is listed as the part needed for replacement. Before you make that determination, though, test the AC adapter. You should see a reading of between 19 and 20.5 volts.

If the voltage is outside of that range, replace the adapter. If it is within that range, then replace the motherboard. The part number for the motherboard is MB.

TG606.001. To replace the motherboard, you need to disassemble most of the lower unit of the laptop (the lower unit is everything under the keyboard). This is not something that you should pursue if you are not experienced in laptop repair as there are many delicate ribbon cables and other connections that are easily damaged.

For laptop, it is very hard to replace the power board! Doesn't like the desktop computer, laptop has too many custimzed items, power board is one of them. Different vendor has different power board, so that there is big risk that you cannot just buy a power board form other place and replace the old one.

You should ask vendor to do that for you! Call them first! .

Dunno what you mean by the "power board". Most laptops have just one main board and the power goes into it. Sometimes there's a small board by the battery socket, but it's not a power board per se.

Also dunno how you can be sure it's a problem with the "power board". If it fails to turn on, the problem could be anything. Most repairs on laptops are not doable by the average user.

You need the patience, tools and skills of a swiss watchmaker. Plus usually the first time you try to take apart a laptop you don't know where all the little plastic catches are so you end up breaking most of them..
