I think those who hate homophobes and call them bigots ought to examine their own taboos. Say you are perfectly rational and balanced and have no objection, rational or subconscious, to homosexuality, and can take the moral high ground here... but mention anyone who has devious thoughts about children, and these same, oh so nice liberal rational people, are frothing at the mouth and calling for mandatory castration with the rest of the mob. If, by any chance, you were that way inclined, I am sure you would not like these oh so nice liberal rational people much, and would be quite justified in thinking they were bigots.
As one answerer above me pointed out, homophobia is too strong a word. A true homophobe would run fast away from anyone who might be gay, even in imagination. There would be no time or desire to stand and do battle with this monster.
Just get away, fast. If you were a homophobe, you would certainly have no gay friends, since you would not be able to tolerate their company long enough. I suspect that in most people, it is mild disgust, similar to an insect landing in your dinner, and is a biological instinct there to preserve the reproduction instinct and perpetuate the species.
It is not a phobia, and most sensible people accept that insects have as much right to nibble away at our dinner as we have, as indeed you do. It is a pity that the term "homophobe" is being misused, just so that supporters of the redefinition of marriage can score a political point against their opponents.
I think everyone's slightly homophobic, because its something strange that people sometimes find it hard to understand, but should and must be excepted. I personally think it doesn't matter whether you like men or women or both, it doesn't effect who you are as a person, its actually fairly irrelevant as long as you're a good person, which is why I don't understand the fuss. It's normal to think homosexuality is strange as to a straight person it goes against all natural instincts, its ok not to be comfortable with the fact but its something everyone has to get past.
People dislike homophobes mainly because of the top negative connotations but in the case of sexuality I think people should live by "if you have nothing nice to say don't say anything at all" cause at the end of the day your sexuality DOESN'T MATTER. :) hope it helped.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
