Menstruation is generally not considered an aggravating factor in multiple sclerosis (MS). In fact, a 1952 study showed a definite tendency toward improvement during menstruation and during the first half of the menstrual cycle. In rare cases preexisting emotional lability might be temporarily aggravated.
