If you're worried then apply anti-septic to your piercing and the wound, it should keep down any infection risk nice and low. If at ANY point you think an infection is setting in the go to a doctor as soon as possible, for god's sake nip it in the bud, you're right, abscesses are horrible.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
