No. NMT is performed to assist in the recovery of chronic pain management, and treats the cause of myofascial pain. Although neuromuscular therapist usually are certified massage therapist, there is a difference between the sessions performed.
A massage therapist will perform a full body massage which may touch upon areas of pain, but do not provide their client with the knowledge of perpetuating factors. A neuromuscular therapist will dedicate the entire session to focusing on your cause and symptoms of chronic pain which are issues that the client need to eliminate or modify in order to improve their condition.
