Is Socialism better than Capitalism?

Yes, of course. Capitalism is only worried about the me me culture and ensuring the minority retain their wealth and power while creating and propagating the illusion that anyone can "make it" if they work hard, educate themselves, invest blah blah blah and even if some do the vast majority never will, you see for Capitalism to function it will always require a multitude of slaves. Whereas Socialism when correctly implemented works for the betterment of all of society, Socialism strives to create a just and equal society.

Socialism puts people first, people will never come first in a Capitalist system. Edit: two posters mentioned North Korea, now N. Korea is not a Socialist country nor is it a Communist country.

It is simply in effect a military dictatorship using an ideology called Juche http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juche with some red flags thrown around here and there for effect. Despite its name it's not Democratic and it certainly is not Socialist or even Communist for that matter.

Yes and those European countries that you mentioned are presently being crushed under debt brought on by programs they can no longer afford to maintain. If Canada is so great would you tell me why their citizens travel all the way to South Carolina and PAY for health care they can get for free in Canada? If the education is so great why do we have so many foreign students in the colleges of America? Most statics are stacked in the favor the author wants them to be stacked At At any rate I will stick with the American way of life.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
