After installation Symantec can run at background and scan to protect your pc from viruses, for that you have to set it’s setting that way. Open console, under view click auto-protect and check enable background scanning. Compare to windows defender if you open Symantec console, you will find all features at a time, and easy options to configure them.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
