Is there a book or one great website that gives the independent reading levels for children's books, indexed by title?

I would like to look up a specific children's book by title and know the independent reading level. For example X book is ranked at a 4th grade indep. Reading level.

I'd also like to see a list by grade level, look at grade 4 and see a list of books. The publisher's stated reading range such as is published on Amazon, of age 4-8 or 9-12 is not helpful to me, I need more detail and not an age for suitability of content or interest but for independent reading level. I am asking mostly for fiction/children's literature, for children who can read to themselves at 2nd grade and middle school.

I am not asking about easy readers. I am not asking about books suitable for reading ALOUD to children, I have great book list books for that.THANKS. Asked by ChristineMM 59 months ago Similar questions: book great website independent reading levels children's books indexed title Arts > Books.

Lookup "Accelerated Reader" Many schools use the "Accelerated Reader" program, which consists of a list of books with reading level, (e.g. 4.6); and comprehension tests on the computer for each of these books. Apparently different schools have different lists of books, but I believe the reading level ratings are consistent. A Google search turned up many different school districts' A.R. lists, including this one.

My 1st grader is currently reading some fairly advanced books, up to 4th grade level. After reading the book, she takes the computerized test for credit. Hope this helps.

Here is one that I like The source site is one that I like. Please scroll down to where it says: "Readership-Targeted Lists" and you will find links to book lists such as 3rd grade etc that leads to a page of listed titles. Great site.

Here is another site I like with many reading resourcesgeocities.com/tracyscherer/Educational_L... a wonderful day. Sources: nancykeane.com/rl/#Readership .

1 crispy, regarding your answer "Lookup "Accelerated Reader"": Thank you for taking the time to answer I do appreciate that. I have seen the Scholastic AR list and I am not happy with it mostly as so many of the selections are twaddle, in my opinion. I also don't like that obviously it is limited to only in-print titles that Scholastic publishes.

If you ask me it is a marketing tool to increase sales of their books. One mom of a schooled child told me her school was forcing her to buy 50 books for each of her children from the AR list with the source to buy them from Scholastic directly. The mother stated she could not afford to spend all that money on the books.

Most importantly the older child hated the book selections and was balking at reading what was on the list, she was interested in other titles. A friend just told me about Lexile.com and this is more of what I am looking for. While they aren't ranked by grade per se they have a Lexile level.

I can take a book I know my children can read well and loook up the Lexile level/rating and then find other books that are similar as well as find more challenging books. It also does not just go on vocabulary but also on sentence length and other compelexity considerations (the score/level/rating number). I am open to more sites or if such a list is in book format (perhaps titles change so quickly so as to not have a paper book of this content?).

Thank you.

2 I use bookwizard.scholastic.com/tbw/homePage.doI set it for "guided reading level," but you could set it to tell you the Lexile or grade equivalency level. Although you sounded disillusioned with Scholastic, I have found many, many titles on the site that are NOT Scholastic... and I need to know the levels of books because I am a literacy coach. I also use the book amazon.com/Fountas-Pinnell-Leveled-Book-... .

I need the book title : there is this girl who gets on drugs with her boyfriend I think, there are more books to it.

I forgot the title of this book I read it was three books in one..

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
