Is there a good integrated virus-and-spyware scanner available for Windows XP for free?

I use Avira, Ad-Aware, and Spybot, plus Defender, and they work very well, but I'd like one single application that scans for and eliminates all flavors of malware and, if possible, can be scheduled to update and run periodically without intervention by me. If I can get this, but not for free, I might still be interested – but not if it's from Symantec. AVG Free works pretty well I like AVG Free...it's an extremely effective scanner and will update/scan automatically for you. It does great with viruses and trojans and worms and most big spyware/rootkit threats. I also like to use Malwarebytes to supplement the spyware/rootkit scanning.

Both are free, but have paid options (the paid versions tend to offer more customizable automation). We used this combo a lot at the laptop repair desk I used to work at while in college.

I use AVG Security Suite, it was 69$ for 2 years..but well worth it, it covers everything. BTW..get rid of Adaware...that is the WORST program ever....I highly recommend majorgeeks. Com these people KNOW ALL...the good, the bad & the ugly.

The AVG autyomatically updates itself..you can also set it to scan when you want too. I have a super fast PC and it takes almost an hour to do a COMPLETE SCAN.

1 AVAST Free Home Edition. They will say you have a 60 days demos but ignore that. After the 60 days they send you a code by email for you to renew it free for another year and so on.

AVG was a problem for my PC. Did not install correctly and did not allow me to uninstall. Frustrating.

3 avast! I use it too. Uninstall your other ones if you decide to trust our advice - having more than one really slows things down.

I once had avast plus clamwin plus another one. You just want one, or things get really bogged down. Avast is great, you need to re register every year but it's free and highly rated everywhere that I checked.

Keep your MS updates up to date also. This user has been banned from Askville.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
