IronCop 2009 Triathlon WIN A GUN! The 2009 IronCop Triathlon will be in benefit of Cedar Rapids Officer Tim Davis and his family. Officer Davis was severely beaten during an ivestigation on March 29, 2009.

Officer Davis suffered traumatic brain injuries. Officer Davis is a 4 year veteran of the Cedar Rapids Police Dept. Officer Davis has a young family with two young children and his wife is an elementary teacher.

Civilians are allowed to compete this year. We are scoring for three person team awards this year. Please register as an individual.

Teams will be registered on-site at the time of the event. Each officer will compete in all three stages. The worst two shooting scores will count against the fastest two bike and run times.

If you have questions send an email to [email protected]. Stage One is the FBI qualification course of 50 rounds on a 5 point silhouette target. Stage One begins at the Cedar Rapids Police Department firearms range.

The firearms stage will start at 0900 hours. Shoot what you carry. All participants must present proof of current status as a certified peace officer.

Civilians will compete in Stages Two and Three. Stage Two also begins at the Cedar Rapids Police Department firearms range. The bicycle stage will begin at 1000 hours.

The bicycle leg will go out on C Street and turnaround near Shueyville returning to the staging area for a total of 15 miles. The course is paved roads with small hills. The main intersections will have traffic control.

Helmets are required. Stage Three begins immediately after stage two. Participants will leave their bicycles at the staging area and return to the Old River Road for the 1.55 mile running leg out to the turnaround and back for a total of 3.1 miles/ 5 km.

Water will be available at several points during stages two and three. Cedar Rapids Police Department firearms range – Old River Road- From Holiday Inn take Southgate Court Southwest to 33rd Ave SW and turn right. Enter onto I380 southbound.

Exit I380 and merge onto Vernon exit. Continue on Exit Turn right, northbound, onto C Street. Turn right onto Ely Road SW.

Turn left onto Old River Road. Firearms Range All participants are encouraged to wear t-shirts or other clothing which identifies their agency. The range will be restricted to law enforcement participants only.

Event Categories All three triathlons have individual age group categories for men and women as seen below. The Olympic Distance Triathlon will also have Collegiate and Relay Team divisions. The Long Course Triathlon will additionally have Elite and Relay Team divisions.

The Mountain Bike Triathlon will only have individual age group and youth relay divisions. All participants in the individual age group categories (Mountain Bike and Collegiate participants excluded) are also eligible to compete for their triathlon club in the Triathlon Club Team Competition. You must declare your club name when registering online.

All relay team members of a youth or masters relay team must be within their division age group, if not, the team will compete in the open division.
