Is there a way I can use an external tuner with a recent plasma tv that has a wiped out tuner?

TL is an LG plasma I brought back from living in C none of locals can get replacement tuner; so options are few. Works ok with COmcast but prefer not to keep paying those guys every month, and just buy a box for the analog (non hd) I already subscribe to. Thanks all.

Yes, you need to use an external tuner box such as the Samsung HDTV Digital Terrestraial Receiver Absolutely. You can get rid of the HDTV Comcast box, and pick up an ATSC Terrestrial Tuner and hook it up to the input on your television. You can find ATSC terrestrial tuners such as this one from Samsung (bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=81027...) or any other brand you can purchase at your favorite electronics retailer.

You can get ATSC boxes which provide composite, s-video, component (YPbPr) or HDMI output so you can watch over-the-air broadcast HDTV even if your internal tuner is broken. If you want standard analog cable, you might want to get a standalone QAM tuner as well. Or just get a non-HD cable box from Comcast.

Typically, yes As far as I know, all HDTV’s including plasma ones, have "component" video inputs, which have the necessary bandwidth to conduct high-definition video signals. You simply need to buy a "set top box" (STB) that includes an ATSC tuner. Since a lot of people have replaced their perfectly good STB with digital video recorders (DVR), you should be able to get an excellent price on a used STB.(Or, you may take this opportunity to upgrade to a DVR yourself.

You’ll be glad you did! ) You connect the component video outputs on the STB (or DVR) to the corresponding inputs on your plasma TV. Then connect your antenna to the "RF in" or "Antenna in" input on the STB.

Using the TV’s remote control, there should be some menu that allows you to change the input from the TV’s built-in tuner to the component video inputs.

Yes you can if. As long as you have a working input source destination on you plasma television with a matching output jack from your external tuner co-axial cable , would be the most common ;or if your tuner is a cable box and it is HD and your set is HD use component BLUE ,RED GREEN OR DVI CABLE ,OR HDMI CABLE , if your tuner is standard definition use the co-ax or s-video or composite red, white , yellow. Your set should work just fine , many folks with cable and satellite or a VCR or DVD recorder NEVER USE THE INTERNAL TUNER OF THE TV SET , just make sure your set is not Set to use the tuner (called TV sometimes as its input source) PLUG IT IN SIT BACK AND RELAX - PRIVATE MESSAGE ME IF YOU NEED MORE HELP .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
