This is a great question and it has tested te best Rose growers for centuries but to my knowledge the perfect black rose does not exist. If someone was to perfect the breeding of a pure black rose, owning the patent would be worth a fortune. Very close attempts have been made in labs by scientists playing with genetics but the best they can come up with is a very, very dark red Rose which looks almost black.
There are no absolutely black roses, but there are a few which come close, like "Black Magic". It is so dark red that it almost appears to be black in sort of a velvety way. A lot of garden shops have this one and it's available from Jackson-Perkins.
Also, "Oklahoma" is very dark, but it's an older variety and not so easy to find in the shops anymore.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
