Is there any statistical method to determine if these two measurements are similar or different?

Two methods of measurement of distance are: 1) Using a ruler 2) Using vernier calipers.

One is precise with an approved tool to do so. Another one is without the tool: guessing, feeling, estimating, ...

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
