No. Effing. Way.
There is a simple saying that helps detect BS like this - extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. By 'extraordinary' they mean those things that are out of the ordinary, and I think the end of the world, or the end of the universe, is out of the ordinary. So where is this extraordinary evidence?
It does not exist. Certainly we have seen extraordinary things - new scientific breakthroughs, new medicines, vaccines, the use of electricity, but each of these had evidence to show that the effects were real. The results were tested and verified by many many people, and could still be verified today.
This is precisely why the scientific method is so valuable - because it allows us to determine absolute truth in certain subjects, so we do not have to rely on the fallibility of human desires or wishes.
The movie was based on a Mayan calendar which ends in 2012, and it seems that in history most of their predictions have been right...so enjoy life!
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
