No The graphics/video card is integrated with the motherboard so no, sounds like it is time to upgrade.

Sorry there is no way to upgrade the graphics card in most laptops. The motherboards of laptops are designed by their manufacturers and hence if they tell you there is no way to upgrade there really isn't. The main reason why graphics card cannot be upgraded is that they are usually soldered onto the motherboard and removing it and replacing it with a pin-compatible card is almost impossible to do.

There a rare breed of high end laptops (Dell sells one) which places the graphics card chip on a removable daughterboard which allows upgrade. Very new laptops support Express Card (which is a card version of PCI Express) and there have been talk of being able to connect a express card graphics card to replace the built in one. However at this point in time it is probably more talk than anything else.

As far as I know, there isn't one. DirectX capabilities are coded in the hardware, so no software patches can change your video card from DX8- to DX9-capable. Lastly, I don't think there are hardware upgrades for graphics cards available (save for buying a new card), especially when it comes to laptops, most of which have integrated graphics into the mainboard.

It looks like you'll have to get a new notebook if you want to run DX9 software properly. Sources: Opinion .

You are probably out of luck Typically you cannot upgrade graphics cards in laptops. There is not even a graphics card per se. It is just a bunch of components wired together in a way that makes it impossible to tinker with.

Each laptop is different, and parts from one can't be swapped into another, even within the same brand or model family. That is one reason I, and many other IT professionals, hate laptops. They are expensive, fragile, easy to steal, hard or impossible to upgrade, expensive and difficult to fix, hard to find parts for, ergonomically poor, obsolesce rapidly, etc. Their sole positives are yes, you can carry them around (so you drop them, spill coffee on them, or get them stolen) and they consume little electricity.

They cost about 30% more than desktops of equivalent capability, and their total cost of ownership over their lifetime is far greater, because of higher maintenance and repair costs (I haven't calculated the numbers in a while. ) Sorry :-/ .

Graphics in a laptop generally isn't a removable card Usually the graphics is controlled by a chip that's soldered onto the motherboard. Even if you were good at de-soldering and soldering and you didn't fry the other components in the process, the problem is that a different chip probably wouldn't be compatible with the motherboard. It's just not something that's designed to be changed.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
