The movie has various plots and sub-plots, I don't know what makes you think it "has no plot". And if your life is "more entertaining" than the lives of the characters in Pulp Fiction then somebody needs to make a movie about your life. Arrest you first, and then make a movie about your life culminating in your indefinite incarceration.
Saying that the movie is just "talking about random stuff" because they had a conversation about Big Macs is a misnomer. The dialogue in the movie is what makes it fantastic, and also what makes SLJ's performance so memorable. To fully understand Tarantino's non-linear story telling and out of sequence plots you have to watch the movie more than once.
The Shawshank Redemption IS a fantastic movie. And IS rated #1 movie in the world, but you can't compare these two movies because they're worlds apart. I don't think the movie is overrated.
You have seen many movies that you prefer to this movie, you haven't "seen so many films that are better than this" because enjoyment of movies is relative, and the only way to rate the calibre of a movie is by public opinion; hence why Shawshank Redemption is #1 on IMdb's top 250, and also why Pulp Fiction is ranked #4. Django isn't as good as Pulp Fiction. I didn't even think it was as good as Inglorious Basterds or Kill Bill, but once again this is my own opinion.
I agree with you in that it's overrated; I hate that movie.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
