The ads that are on the page are drawn from the text on the page. Tweak your guide note to add more relevant keywords, and that might help to target the ads more specifically. It may not fix the problem entirely, however, as advertisers purchase popular keywords that may not relate directly to their product...so if you use the term "peanut butter"...and a lounge chair company feels that peanut butter is a great term-- they may pay to have their ad show up on pages that use the term peanut butter.
You may need to play with the mix of terms you use in your guide note in order to get it right. The more text you have, the more choices ad words has to pick from, as well.
Nyssa, the main reason you are not getting any ad revenue is probably that your pages just aren't getting enough views. Your most popular page so far, on Electric Cars, has 37 views so far. It can take hundreds or more views to get one person who clicks an ad.
People just don't click on ads all that often. If you had an ad click after only 37 views it would be sheer luck! For comparison, my page on Kate Winslet has 228 views, and no ad revenue either.
I lucked out on my page about The Wire and got a click after just 33 views, but that is not typical of page with so few views. If you want to get some ad revenue, here are some other things to think aboout: 1) Topic selection is probably the single most important factor for views and revenue If you want to write about electric cars, you might consider exploring if a page about a particular brand or model would do better. 2) Think about how many ads to put on the page and where to put them On your Electric Cars page you only seem to have one ad block, and it quite low down on the page.
A lot of people that visit your page may not even see the ad. Too many ads may turn people off though, so strike a balance. You can't move ads themselves, but you can move your content around them, so they end up where you want.3) Bear in mind that the view and revenue stats are imperfect.
The view number updated yesterday, but the revenue numbers have not updated for quite a few days. So you might actually have had clicks and not know about it yet! So far I haven't answered your question about being able to control the ad content.
I think that would be a great feature for advanced users that know what they're doing. (Step forward @robbrown! ) However the kind of ads being shown on your pages are probably not the main factor in why you're not seeing any revenue.
Hope this helps you and others to make some money here! :).
I think it's a very valid point that hasn't been brought up much at all. I am curious what you see on your end. Do you see the edit button above the ad?
flickr.com/photos/33749589@N07/3635209352/ There appears the settings of the advert that can be toggled. flickr.com/photos/33749589@N07/3634400661.
You need to make sure that your pages are optimized for the keywords you are targetting with your adsense ads The words in the page title and the words just below the adsense code have some importance.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
