Is this why the Republicans are trying so hard to castrate the health care overhaul?

I think I have to go along with your line of reasoning here. No wonder the Republicans hate it so much. Much less money in their own pockets.

That darned Obama, he just keeps pullin' for the people in this country.

They have to get rid of it before people wake up and decide they like it.

I had heard that most companies already believe they meet it. But even if true, proving it isn't fun. Personally, I think 20% is a rather shocking amount of overhead for what they do.

Most doctors will knock 20% off the price just if I tell them I don't have insurance, and that's about the same as the discounted price the insurers pay. So one key job that insurers are supposed to do, keep down prices, they don't do very well. Where does the rest of that money go?

Is their actuarial work poor? Are they incapable of preventing fraud? If my bank wanted 20% overhead for handling my money, I wouldn't be going there.

These guys don't perform medical services; they just hold the money and pay for it. It doesn't sound to me like that's worth a quarter as much as what the doctor herself does.

Yep, that is EXACTLY why the insurers are encouraging the Republicans and Tea Party to block the reform. Because now it will be pointed out that their "only 10% profit margin" is calculated AFTER the executive salary and bonus packages have been paid.

And, of course, that is the part of the healthcare bill they are trying hardest to keep quiet, while arguing against broadening the risk pool.(BTW, Obama has already said that he will support any state that can come up with a better plan than Obamacare - so there goes the "state's rights" argument. ) .

Fiscal responsibility demands that we pay off our current debts, not add to them.

OK - we can force the insurance companies to pay taxes (100%) on that extra amount, then, rather than offering refunds. If we want to get rid of the debt, cut the military budget by 70% and get out of the places we have invaded, have no business being, have accomplished nothing in and can't afford to remain. Then, cut out corporate welfare, subsidies and raise the taxes, especially on corporations, especially those that oursource and offshore and the rich who earn above 250k/yr.It's not rocket surgery, but it does cut into those that the Republican party depend on for their re-election gravy train.

Face it, the Obama Health Care bill is a gonner. One by one Governors are saying no way. And the Supreme Court is going to go the say way.

Sorry, no obama legacy here.

" "Has the Health Care overhaul hit an unconstitutional snag?" "Does anybody in politics really care about health care or are people who die or suffer.

Ok... Let's put partisan politics aside and talk about issues - Health Care.

This really isn't about politics or the health care bill ... but isn't it odd that.

If Obama is defeated in 2012 and the Republicans are in charge of Congress again, will they produce a health care plan.

Does anybody in politics really care about health care or are people who die or suffer.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
