Is tight coupling between the model and the UI avoidable when using RichFaces?

I'd suggest: getting the HtmlTree in a managed bean and parse its data, transforming it to a usable data-structure with no UI-elements. Pass that data to the EJB.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
