Is USC considered to be a "green" or eco-friendly campus?

One would think USC would be extremely eco-friendly, and while they're working on it, that's not yet the case! Of course they scored an A on Investment, USC had more Bs and Cs on their sustainability report. I will say that it's more of a challenge because of the location.

USC is located near south central LA in a poor income area. The university sustains a lot of the businesses around there, but the school walks a thin line on how much to interfere with the community. USC's "Master Plan" is to be more involved in the community, clean it up, volunteer, build, etc. However, there have been many residents that are vehemently objecting USC's plan because it will increase the value of the area, which the majority of current residents would not be able to afford.

Transportation: With the exception of some commuters, everything is within walking distance, thousands of kids ride bikes or skateboard, there are buses in and off campus, and there is an free evening/night car service with student drivers. Food: A lot of healthy selections, though it can get a little expensive depending on if you eat at one of the food courts and/or what type of meal plan you get. There is also a farmers market on campus every few weeks.

Activism: There is a lot of environmental activism, which is trying to get USC to become more environmentally aware. Energy/Waste Management: This is USC's biggest downfall. There is wasted energy, from lights to fountains to paper.

The waste management is shocking. VERY few recycling bins around campus. A few apartments have big blue recycling bins next to the trash bins, which make it very easy to use.

However, most dorms on campus don't have this option. So much trash is actually recycling, but many students don't know where to put it, and many underclassmen don't want to cart their recycling across campus. It's just very disorganized. That's just an overview.

So overall USC is just average, but working to improve. See more here: http://sustainability.usc.edu.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
