Islam means peace? why do people call muslim terrorists?

Hii there Jane :) I know your point very well...yes they are slandering Islam! That idiocy we are doing isn't protesting, and far from being called protests! I appreciate your will to ask such question...so allow me to illustrate through a satisfying answer to you :) first, as a note, muslim comes from the word "selm" (?), or peace, peaceful, surrender, etc of synonmous meanings in Arabic language, cause arabic is rich in meaning...so, "selm" is called the "origin" of the word in arabic....any word in arabic has "origin" in 3 letters exactly to know the meaning of the word...I hope this is a good start in Islam, Peace be upon you, is the "hii" in arabic.....so when I say "hiii" "yooo" "hellloooo", I say "peace be upon you", "peace"or in Arabic (Salam) or assalamu alaikom :) so, as a head start, everything is about "peace" :) and "Jihad", stands for several meanings, there is war jihad, studying jihad, soul jihad...but what does jihad itself mean?

Jihad come from the word, "johd" or "?"...three words again, it's all arabic...which means "effort"...and the greatest jihad as prophet Mohamad said, is Soul Jihad...by purifying yourself, not sinning, doing good deeds, not talkiing bad about people, mercy, etc... about War Jihad, it's "retaliating" against an aggressor...for no one can live or continue with "defending" himself>>>now, people claim that Islam uses sword to spread, I got this 2:56 min video for religion comparison expert Ahmad Deedat on that matter if your interested http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXM9jL7q8... so, also jihad got rules...rules of mercy, for prophet Mohamad said, you can't kill an woman, child, old man, or armless young people, who fight you in battle...so even jihad isn't "brutal"...isn't "bloodthirst" as unfortunately media imply about Islam now, unfortuantely,many muslims are Illiterate! Don't know the true Islam by understanding it right...many think that the west is an enemy for occupying our lands as Iraq, Isreal or dealing economic or diplomatic pressures, as on Egypt (my country), that all the westerns are bad! Which is WRONG!

Totally! Allow me to qoute prophet mohamad exact and clear words about a dreadfull act of killing a peaceful person in Arabic then translation? Prophet Mohamed said, who ever kills a soul that came in peace (agreement of peace)(as an ambassador for instance), will not even smell the scent of Janah (paradise), and it is to be known, that the scent of Janah can be smelled from as far as 40 years walking to it.

All what was going on in Islamic countries now of attacking embassies and killing diplomats is Haram (forbidden) in Islam even in war time. It is corruption and perversion, destruction and mutilation which only show the ignorance of its perpetrators. These foreigners should be safe in Muslim countries, as long as they did not gain entry without permission (got Visa), they should not be violated, no beatings, no looting, as well as murder, their lives and money must be protected, Abdullah ibn Amr reported: The Prophet, peace be upon him, said, “Whoever kills a person protected by a treaty will never smell the fragrance of Paradise, and indeed its fragrance can be found a distance of forty years of travel.”

Sahih Bukhari, Book 83, Number 49 A number of the Companions reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said, “If anyone wrongs a person protected by a peace treaty, detracts from his rights, burdens him with more work than he is able to do, or takes something from him without his consent, then I will plead for him on the Day of Resurrection.” This includes non Muslims who live in a Muslim countries,those who have a peace treaty with Muslims and anyone who was given security by any Muslim (entered a Muslim country with a permission). Those who kill have nothing to do with Islam or any other religion.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
